monkey see. monkey do.

Monday, September 30

**warning: it's basically finals week here at WPI.. therefore blogs will either be
- bitchy and bitter
- incredibly funny as a form of stress relief
- totally incoherent
- non-existant

hopefully it'll be one of the top three. i got buttloads to do.

- i just started my mg2950 research paper of the regulation of Digital Television (if you've got an opinion on the topic, or more importantly, know where i could find some good info.. email me and hook me up)
- gotta do a presentation on the research paper i just started next week
- our ce3020 term project big part is due on friday, and loose ends tied by monday
- apparently we've gotten diff eq's proj #2. I haven't seen it yet, don't know what it's about, or when it's due. not cool.
- all you're regular daily pass in crap
- 2 finals, one final essay

in other more fun less stressful news:
- i'm a green! we went to some cracked out 'laughter in leadership conference' thing at holy cross today. the fun part of the day was the 'discover your personality type' workshop. had fun with some cool people, made a huge paper airplane which Tofer (blue) made "ideal" for us... basically being green means I'm: analytical, global, conceptual, cool, calm, collected, inventive, logical, perfectionist, abstract, hypothetical, investigative.
at work: i am conceptual and an independent thinker. For me, work is play. I am drawn to a constant challenge in career, and like to develop models, explore ideas, or build systems to satisfy my need to deal with things innovatively. Once I have perfected an idea, I prefer to move on, leaving the project to be maintained and supported by others.
in love: i prefer to let my head rule my heart. I dislike repetition, so it is difficult for me to continuously express feelings. I believe that once feelings are stated, they are obvious to a partner. I am uneasy when my emotions control me. I want to establish a relationship, leave it to maintain itself, and turn my energies back to my career.
in childhood: I appeared to be older than my years and focused on my greatest interests, achieving in subjects that were mentally stimulating. I was impatient with drill and routine, questioned authority, and found it necessary to respect teachers before I could learn from them.

- also, jenn and i are still looking for two guys to go see Red Dragon with us over break. Free Moose Ears!!
basically the deal is:
- you can't scream louder or in a high pitch voice than either of us might
- you can't mind someone grabbing on to you. repeatedly. and possibly not letting go the whole movie.
- you're not allowed to leave the theatre while the movies on.

we say One Hour Photo the other night... and that was freaky enough with just the two of us... red dragon is going to be way freakier.. but we really want to see it. so yeah :)

this is jim's entry in my guestbook. i just so this. and just cause it's so funny, i may have to take his suggestion. although i have the feeling my site will become akin with some odd sites if i start posting about farm animals... i think it will need a code name.. like discrete.. or discrete math even. then everytime some CS kid says something about discrete.. you'll know they really just mean farm animals :P

Name: Jim Rogers
E-mail address: I hate filling this in
Homepage URL: http://I am homeless
Comments: I wanted to write and say hello.

This is way cooler than Timmy's guestbook, but Tim's website has pictures of Iceland. Which makes his website cool!!! (HA I love bad jokes!!!)

I think we should dedicate a section of your website to farm animals. Because no one seems to do that. I think we should do something to help promote the webidization of farm animal knowledge. I mean I know there are chickens and cows but I really do not know what they do on a farm. Why does every farm have a chicken? I don't get that. People say is becasue they get farmers up at dawn but today we have alarm clocks so who needs chickens.

WAIT, now I get it now I have the answer.

AAAHHHH where one finds the answers to questions about life...

and sleepless in seattle came in the mail the other day.. yay!! :) must watch sometime soon.

and jen and i are still in search of a couple of males willing to see Red Dragon with us... cause we are going to be scared out of our minds.. offers welcome :) free moose ears to the first 10 offers. :P

i dunno.. i should just be in bed anyway.

i feel like poop.

Tuesday, September 17

Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you when we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky

Cos people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we live and die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

-oasis, champange supernova

see jen's blog for monday the 16th.

Sunday, September 15

i'm definitely in the mid-term slump of not wanting to do anything when i should really be doing more and kicking it into high gear.. oh well.. nothing's getting done this weekend.. which means i'll have to do diff eq's and study for mg2950 monday night and study for ce3020 tuesday night... but i found out no ce3020 hw is do this week, and that rocks cause it's pretty tedious and boring basically.. but in practice it's good and i actually enjoy doing the project scheduling and CPM and stuff... hoping to do an ISP with it C-term that will count towards my project dynamics concentration.. that'd be very cool cause then i wouldn't have to take the annoying mgmt acct'ing classes that i do not want to take in any way shape or form. oh well..

in other news.. jen is officially a crack monkey.. cause she just is :) and monsters inc comes out on the 17th! yay! i ordered it from amazon.. but we may have to cancel that and just go buy it at wal-mart or something.. i'm also trying to find a part-time job in the worcester area.. i'm thinking home depot or tatnuck.. otherwise, maybe i'll hit up the lowes/target/new stores opening area in lincoln sq.

"1000 julys, i know you'll find. and i'd say the words but no words come to mind. you let me in and i don't know why... when you come it's like a 1000 julys.. 1000 julys that's what you are. i'd tell you to come back down but you've gone to far.."

Friday, September 13

i can't wait for this week to be over... it's been some good/some bad, etc...

the week started out ok.. lots of studying for diffeq's midterm basically.. deb talan was awesome at coffeehouse tuesday.. took diff eq's midterm wednesday... then had to do the diff eq's project... plus tons of ce3020 work... and then yesterday i got my diff eq's final back and i only got an 82.. which bugs me cause all the diff eq's was right, it was stupid algebra mistakes etc

so now it's friday... just have to make it through 5 hours of class and a presentation and i'll be good to go.. and then me, jen, and joce and going to have a good time and among other things.. head up to campus to see raccoon village at 8 behind the CC. woohoo.

1 down, 2 more mid-terms to go... a minus term is going to be over soon!!

Monday, September 9

so i went into jen(n)'s room and she asked if she was supposed to entertain me or if i was supposed to entertain her (or myself i guess).. and she said i could tell her a story or something...... and so the following is what happened.....

colleen: there once was a pirate named jeff. and he had a dog.

jen(n): instead of parrot?

c: yes

j: did he sit on his shoulder? how big is this dog?

c: he's as big as your imagination wants him to be

j: i want him to be small.. like 4 inches tall

c: fine, he was a really small.... chi-wow-wa (i can't spell). and his name was... poop-bucket. and they had a boat named sniffles. and they were out on the water.but they weren't supposed to be on the water, they were supposed to be in the boat. so jeff drowned. and poop-bucket became a fish.

j: (laughing) a fish?

c: yeah, he was small enough. he learned to swim.

Sunday, September 8

"they call me mellow yellow.. i call them monkey shit head.." - jen(n)'s dad's lyrics to Mellow Yellow.

still major baffles about the people that visit my site.. oh well.. it's all good.. my life and lack of writing about it are exciting to someone out there...

so not too much has been happening.. jen(n) had some crazy ideas for thursday night.... yeah, you can read her blog to get the story.. no need to retype it all..

friday night we just chilled and did laundry and watched movies and were adopted by this cat that's always in the driveway... saturday morning my alarm didn't go off so instead of waking up at 5am to go to River Rage, I woke up at 8 when Deej called to ask where I was. Needless to say I may it to RR before the competition started... day was long and boring (bad choice to make no 3x losers score w/o making winning important) and they couldn't get the field to work... haven't seen it this bad yet... people should use our Battlecry software... it works a million times better.. but anyway, we won. so it was worth it.

and we had a good crud game afterwards.. so it was all fun... and my car smokes like a mother still.. there's gotta be oil leaking or something.. i'll have to get that fixed sometime soon.

otherwise, just not looking forward to the buttload of work that will be coming up this week.. so kinda spent today relaxing and trying to review some DiffEq's. A minus term is half over though, so it'll be alright.
