The return of the blogger is slowly beginning...
A somewhat 'serious' topic:
I think it is inevitable in life that people will have different opinions; most importantly, different opinions from us. Varying backgrounds, social status, experiences, etc, etc cause these variances of opinion. And we say, more often than not, that 'other peoples opinions don't matter' to us, but then we continually talk and bitch about their opinion and it blatent incorrectness in our world.
But very distinctly stated, it's our world, not theirs. Understand so, that everyone in this world cares about what other people think. Maybe some care about the general consensus of a population or small society while others really only care about the opinion of one person, but the projection of ourselves on others does matter to us. We can't get away from it because we strive most in our uniqueness to be accepted by everyone else.
In order to understand acceptance though, we have to understand that others don't live by the same rules we do; they don't live in our bubble and often don't care how the oxygen tastes inside it. Different standards, different rules, different goals define our opinions and the reasons we make them. We judge people in our court without a complete respect our understanding for the different laws they live under.
The point: You can never fully understand it until you've truly been there and done that. And you can't complain about what others think of you without accepting that they have a different perspective and you will never really see eye to eye. In their world, they are right; in your world, you are. The blinders are just as existent on you as they are on them. Read the book "Black Like Me" someday, and you can get my point. That you can look in the window and observe your whole life and never really get it until you're on the inside and living the other life in all regards. Knowledge is power.
And walking a mile in someone's shoes never hurt anyone. Plus, afterwards you're then a mile away and you have their shoes.
Care what other people think and care enough to understand why they think like that and respect it.
